DeepFX — Deeper Fractional CO₂ Resurfacing

DeepFX is the deeper mode of fractional CO₂ laser resurfacing. It uses a smaller spot size that delivers energy deeper into the dermis compared to the superficial mode. Like ActiveFX, it treats only a fraction of the skin, leaving untreated areas that support faster healing.

Primary Uses

DeepFX is typically used to improve:

  • Deeper wrinkles
  • Acne scars and other dermal scars
  • Skin laxity and tightening in appropriate cases

Treatment Session

A session generally lasts approximately 20–30 minutes. A local anesthetic is commonly used for patient comfort. Patients usually feel a warm sensation during treatment.

Results Timeline

Improvement becomes visible after the skin has healed. Continued improvement in wrinkles, scars, and skin quality can occur for up to 18 months as collagen remodeling progresses.

Clinical Decision Making The choice between ActiveFX, DeepFX, or a combined treatment is made only after a full medical evaluation by Dr. Glenn A. DeBias at The Institute for Laser and Aesthetic Medicine. All risks and benefits are discussed in detail during consultation.
