FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

What is the difference between ActiveFX and DeepFX?
ActiveFX is the more superficial treatment, primarily used for tone, texture, pigmentation, and fine lines. DeepFX uses smaller, deeper columns and is typically applied to deeper wrinkles, acne scars, and other dermal concerns. The two can be combined in a single session.
How long does a treatment session take?
Most treatment sessions last approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
When will I see results?
Improvement in wrinkles, fine lines, tone, and texture usually becomes noticeable once the skin has healed. Continued gradual improvement can occur for up to 18 months as new collagen and elastic fibers form.
What does the skin look like immediately after treatment?
The skin is typically warm, red, and may be swollen. The degree of these effects depends on the treatment settings chosen by the physician for your individual case.
Is a daily skincare routine needed after treatment?
Yes. To support the healing process, a daily skincare routine will be prescribed. Strict adherence to this regimen and sun protection is essential.
Are there any restrictions before treatment?
Patients who have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6–12 months or who have a history of keloid scarring are generally not candidates. A full medical history review is required prior to any treatment.
Who performs the treatment at ILAMED?
All fractional CO₂ resurfacing treatments are performed or directly supervised by Glenn A. DeBias, DO at The Institute for Laser and Aesthetic Medicine.
How do I know if I am a good candidate?
The only way to determine if ActiveFX, DeepFX, or any laser resurfacing is appropriate for you is through a personal consultation with Dr. DeBias. A complete skin evaluation and medical history review are required.
